Background
This is a linear, first person level I made in Unreal Engine 5 using custom melee combat mechanics with dark fantasy elements. My goal was to create an atmospheric level from concept to blockout, following an outline I created, that showcases various level design concepts, blueprint scripting, playtesting and iteration. It took about 3 months full-time blocking and 3 months full-time scripting/other, spread out over a little more than a year to make it. I had only made a small blockout in UE5 before this and there was a LOT to learn.
The location is a mysterious, abandoned manor actively being raided by Cultists searching for a "Relic" belonging to a dangerous family lineage. The player encounters strange and supernatural creatures along the way, culminating in a confrontation with their ancestor.
Known issues:
- The player can jump through walls with the sword throw/leap ability (try not to!)
- I didn't implement Crossbow damage/ammo :(
- Dash doesn't honor orbit when focused on a target
Things I would have loved to add, but didn't have capacity for on this project include a stamina system affected by movement abilities, a parry mechanic, and enemy behavior.

Install instructions

- Download the playable level ZIP folder
- Unzip and open the folder named "Windows"
- Run the application named "Descendent_bld"
